Times downplays negotiations to avoid invasion of Greenland
Lazy headline presents failed negotiations as a difference of opinion, rather than as an ominous sign that Trump is intent on conquering a fellow NATO country
The Times headline above once again normalizes the behavior of the Trump regime, as if the last year never happened, as if we hadn’t effectively lost our democracy to a totalitarian ruler whose Republican enablers have eliminated the nation’s checks and balances with their silence.
By de-emphasizing the bit about Trump still wanting to conquer one of our allies — “remains unmoved” just doesn’t do justice to describing such an unhinged desire — the headine makes the whole situation seem rather polite and benign.
