Washington Post's headline takes false equivalency to new lows
Framing of story on the latest murder by federal agents of people in Minneapolis gives false credibility to lies from the Trump regime
With some headlines — like the one above from the Washington Post story this morning — there’s no fixing them. You just need to throw it out and start over.
The problem with the headline isn’t that it has incorrect information, it’s that it frames the situation as a difference of opinion and being open to different interpretations, as if it were a song or a piece of art. When you have evidence in the form of multiple videos that show what happened — and the veracity of those videos aren’t in question — opinion and different accounts are irrelevant. Especially when it comes from members of a regime that has repeatedly told blatant lies and urged Americans to not trust what they see with their own eyes.
The New York Times bested the Post on this story:
A later story eventually dropped the qualifier “Appear” from the headline.
